# Prepare and publish a skill

Keep the useful solution, inspect every file and approve exactly what gets shared.

## Capture the useful part

Ask your agent to generalize a task it has solved into SKILL.md and the minimum supporting files. Remove client information, credentials, private paths and anything you do not have permission to share.

Include realistic requirements, examples, limitations and usage terms. Recorded test claims need actual shareable evidence. Use an untested status when evidence does not exist.

> A real-wallet publication and protected buyer download passed for the selected Devnet test skill. Your own skill still needs its own review and test evidence.

## Check and stage locally

Ask the connected MCP to check_skill with the exact files. Correct validation or privacy findings, then use prepare_skill to save a local draft. The staging tools do not publish it.

Packages support up to 20 text files, 200 KiB per file and 1 MiB total canonical package bytes. A draft’s hash identifies its exact contents.

## Review every file

Open the local review screen and select the prepared draft JSON. Inspect every file and each listing section. Edit or remove anything unsuitable, run the checks again and save the reviewed copy.

Changing the package changes its hash and clears the previous approvals. A review record is your attestation, not an automatic publication or a guarantee of safety.

## Approve the publication

Sign in, create your creator profile and open the reviewed copy in the publishing workspace. Confirm the private upload. Review the server’s final version, listing, category, proposed price and usage terms; then separately approve publication.

Publication exposes listing metadata for discovery. Complete package files remain private. A published proposed price does not mean checkout is enabled.
